Emergency Dental Services

children laying down in grass

Your child has just knocked out or chipped a tooth, what do you do?  Contact our office as soon as possible. The faster you get treatment the more likely the tooth can be saved. If a permanent tooth is knocked out you need to gently rinse the tooth with water and replace tooth in socket. If you are unable to replace the tooth put it in a container with cold milk, DO NOT use water. If the tooth is chipped rinse the child's mouth and apply cold to reduce swelling. If possible find the tooth fragment and bring with you. If your child knocks out a baby tooth DO NOT try to put the tooth back into the socket. This can cause damage to the developing tooth. For baby teeth, rinse mouth and apply cold to reduce swelling. It is very important to remember that the sooner you get treatment the better.

  • Permanent tooth knocked out: rise tooth and replace or put in container of cold milk.
  • Baby tooth knocked out: Do Not replace the tooth.
  • Chipped tooth: Find tooth fragment and bring with you.
  • Toothache: Contact the office. If there is facial swelling go to the Emergency Room.
